Pops & Bangs, Crackle & Popcorn Limiter
Custom crackle, burble, overrun and limiter sound tuning with responsible suitability checks.
Crackle, burble and overrun tuning
A pops and bangs remap changes how the ECU behaves when you lift off the throttle. On supported petrol cars, calibration changes to overrun fuelling, ignition timing and related torque strategies can create controlled exhaust crackles, burbles or sharper pops on deceleration.
We build the effect around the vehicle, not a generic noise file. A mild burble on a daily car is very different from an aggressive off-throttle crackle map for a track or show build. The right approach depends on the engine, ECU, exhaust flow, catalyst, OPF/GPF setup and how the car is used.
Popcorn limiter tuning
Popcorn limiter is the common name for a hard-cut style limiter sound, often requested on diesel vehicles. Support depends on the ECU, gearbox behaviour, rev limiter strategy and mechanical condition. It is not suitable for every diesel, and we will check compatibility before accepting the job.
Configurable and reversible software
Where the ECU supports it, we can tailor the sound from subtle burble to stronger crackles, and in some cases link behaviour to drive modes or sport settings. We keep the original ECU file where a read is available, so the software can be returned to standard if needed.
For London road cars, we generally recommend a restrained calibration. The aim is a clean, deliberate sound without constant noise, unnecessary exhaust temperature or nuisance behaviour in everyday driving.

Frequently Asked Questions
It is an ECU calibration change that adjusts overrun behaviour so the exhaust can produce crackles, burbles or sharper pops when lifting off the throttle, where the vehicle setup supports it.
No. Suitability depends on the engine, ECU, exhaust, catalyst, OPF or GPF, DPF and general mechanical condition. We will not recommend it for every vehicle.
On supported vehicles, the sound can usually be set from mild burble to a more aggressive overrun. We aim for a controlled result rather than unnecessary stress.
The term popcorn limiter is commonly used for diesel limiter sound tuning, but support depends on ECU type, gearbox, rev strategy and vehicle condition.
Yes. We keep the original ECU file where a read is available, so the vehicle can be returned to standard software if required.
