EGR Delete Service
EGR valve closed permanently in software with fuelling recalibration — mobile across West & North London.
What the EGR system does
The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve routes a portion of exhaust gas back into the intake manifold. The purpose is to reduce combustion temperatures and lower NOx output. The side effect, over time, is heavy carbon deposit buildup in the intake ports, on the intake valves, and on the EGR valve itself — particularly on direct-injection diesel engines that run a lot of short-distance urban trips.
Common failure modes
A sticking EGR valve causes rough idle, loss of power, black smoke, and fault codes (P0400–P0409 range on most platforms). Carbon buildup in the intake restricts airflow and degrades engine response. The valve itself, when it fails, typically costs £200–£600 fitted depending on platform.
What the software change does
We rewrite the EGR control maps in the ECU to hold the valve at 0% — fully closed, permanently. The ECU no longer requests EGR flow at any operating condition. We remove the fault monitoring for EGR valve position deviation (which would otherwise detect that the valve is not moving as commanded and throw a fault code), and we recalibrate the fuelling maps to account for the change in intake airflow composition with EGR removed.
This is commonly done alongside a physical EGR blanking plate. If you have already fitted a plate, tell us — the software must be calibrated to match the physical state. Running the factory EGR software with a blanked valve will generate persistent fault codes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Removing the EGR prevents carbon buildup in the intake, resulting in cleaner combustion, better throttle response, and improved reliability.
No, our software solution disables the EGR function in the ECU, preventing any warning lights from appearing.
The software-side EGR delete typically takes 1-2 hours. If you also want the EGR valve physically blanked off, we can advise on the best approach for your vehicle during the appointment.
Yes. By stopping exhaust gases from being recirculated into the intake, the engine breathes cleaner air and combustion efficiency improves. Many owners report noticeable improvements in MPG after an EGR delete.
Diesel vehicles that do a lot of short journeys or city driving benefit the most, as these conditions cause the EGR valve and intake manifold to clog with carbon deposits more quickly. Popular models include BMW, VW, Audi, Mercedes, Ford, and Vauxhall diesels.
Yes. EGR delete is commonly combined with a Stage 1 remap, DPF delete, or AdBlue delete for a comprehensive tuning package. We can carry out multiple services in a single visit.
Yes. We always save a full backup of the original ECU software before any work. The factory EGR function can be restored at any time if needed.
